Our amazing dads



This morning we had our anual Father's Day Breakfast. Loads of dads, grand-dads and uncles turned up for a lovely breakfast in the sun! Here are some of the wonderful dads of the children in our room. We love our dads, they're the BEST!

Daffodil Day


Today the school has started selling daffodils for the Cancer Society's Daffoldil Day. We are helping to raise money to help cure cancer which is a very important cause. We have also entered a colouring competition and completed a coin trail which all helps.

Some of our spectacular writing


Suddenly the boat collapsed and we all fell in the water. A mermaid swam past with a dolphin. “Hello” they said. The mermaid kissed me on the hand so I could breathe under the water.

3-2-1 Blast off! The fire was burning. My cheeks were being squashed like a pancake and everybody was cheering. My ears really hurt.

One mysterious night me and my crew mates went sailing on our pirate ship. We saw a tornado and the captain lost control of the wheel and the tornado sucked us up into a mysterious island.

One sunny day I was resting on the deck and I saw an amazing sight, it was a sailing ship. I swam out to it and I jumped up on deck and I saw that there were skeletons on board. The captain and the crew were all dead so I threw the skeletons over board.

One stormy night we were sailing through the seven seas. The wind was howling when suddenly BOOM.. a big ferocious wave flew over me and flipped the boat over. I sank right down to the bottom of the deep blue sea but luckily a mermaid saved me.

In the middle of the ocean the waves were crashing, the salt in my mouth. Suddenly a tentacle grabbed my waist. I was so scared I would not move, so terrified I didn’t know what to do. I got pulled under the water, I had been let go and was sinking down, down, down.

Suddenly we were in a whirlpool. The boat snapped in two like a twig then it started to sink, a mermaid saved us all.

.... we hid in a big hole then a shadow was creeping near the hole...the moon rocks were glistening in my hand....Stacey stared in alarm as the little green hand snatched the bag away....

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1- I felt like an elephant was on me. I could taste smoke. All I could smell was smoke. I could smell fire and hear fire. I felt like I needed to be sick.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-..I was on my back with my feet up in the air. I was so nervous and my heart was pumping so fast that my mouth wouldn’t open.

We were following the Olympics






We followed the New Zealand team at the 2012 Olympics in London and are very proud of them all. We made medals as we won them and cut out lots of newspaper articles to show the amazing time our athletes had. We are so impressed that we won 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze which is a massive amount for a country our size. We are looking forward to Rio in 2016 where we hope we do just as well.

Homework this week...

We are still going to the Olympics and this week we want you to research 1 sport that you enjoy from the Olmpics.
You need you to:
  • write what the sport is
  • draw the symbol for the sport
  • list any famous athletes that do this sport
  • write 2 rules for this sport
  • say why you like this sport

Remembering Neil Armstrong: First Man on the Moon



After writing our stories about going into space we have learnt the sad news today that Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, has passed away at the age of 82. We dedicate our Moon Stories to him and we would like to think he would have enjoyed reading them. RIP! With love from Room 17.

Some of our transport work.












Classroom antics...



After we watched the Space Shuttle take off we lay on the mat and pretended it was our turn! We all imagined that we were being blasted into space... loads of fun!
Mrs Reid cannot wait to read what we have written as a result.



Today we watched a space shuttle launch and imagined that we were aboard it. We are going to write about our experience and will share them with you soon. Settle in, strap on your seat belt and head off for the ride of your life...

We are still on our way to the Olympics (the Paralmpics now) and this week our task is to find out some things about London.

Our violin prodigy...

Today we were lucky enought to have a small concert performance by A.S in our room. He has been learning the violin for one year and we think he is awesome.

This week our Special Terrific Persons award goes to J.L for putting in a great effort with his work and producing pleasing results. This is such a great reason to be getting the award as it means you are really trying hard with your work so weel done!
Our value is Consideration and we are lucky enough to have A.S in our room. He demonstrates this value all of the time and it makes him a wonderful young man.

Some good examples of our homework this week







For our homework this week we needed to say what the weather in London would be like when we arrived for the Olympics. Next we needed to say what we would pack, name the one toy we could take and who would go with us on our journey. These are some very good examples of this, well done!

Our value this term is Consideration and the teacher saw J.L displaying this value last week at his table. He also leant a child his things without any fuss and was very helpful to another. Awesome stuff!
