More great work

As part of our ANZAC Day learning we learnt about Simpson and his Donkey Duffy. We wrote a little bit about what they did during the war and then drew our own pictures to go with it. These two are fantastic pieces of work and show what can be done when we try our BEST.

Some excellent homework

As part of our homework this week we had to write about our experiences at a dawn parade or choose an article from the paper and write about it in our own words. J.V and R.P showed excellent examples of this. Well done guys.

My ANZAC Day

Yesterday it was ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day is a day to celebrate the army that went to war. Some got killed. Some people went to the dawn parade. People lowered the flags to halfway and soldiers marched around. I was at home and I heard the planes and we were watching it on tv.

My ANZAC Day

Yestreday was ANZAC Day and I watched it on tv. The flag was at half way when it was a moment of silence. Everyone was a proud Kiwi. The green hats are the soliders, the black hats are the air force and the blue hats go to sea.

My ANZAC Day

Yesterday I saw the fly over spit fires, they poured out smoke. After that me, Connor and mum made ANZAC biscuits. When a tray came out of the oven we ate one each. It was delicous.

My ANZAC Day

Yesterday on TV I watched an ANZAC Gallipoli news. It is to remember the soldiers that fought in World War 1. There were 5 soldiers. It was very dark. The crowd was quiet once the soldiers came out.

We made ANZAC biscuits... YUMMY!!

My ANZAC Day

On the 25th April it was ANZAC Day and I marched in the ANZAC parade. My company was called Girls Brigade. I felt amazing when I first started. I felt like a proud Kiwi. It took ages to start walking. We had to walk for an hour and a half but I didn't mind. When we got up to Stockade Hill we sang some songs. The songs were the National Anthem and some other songs. They put some flowers on the step to remember the soldiers.

OUR 1000 HIT BLOG PARTY

Caesar the Anzac Dog

Caesar was a bull dog. He was in the army to help find sick and wounded men with his sense of smell. If he was still alive he would be 99 years old. Caesar died when he was 4 years old. He would take something from the person and take it back to Tom. His collar is in the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Sometimes he was with Tom and sometimes he was on his own. He was trained in Egypt and at night he went to find the wounded men.
A.S

Caesar went on a big ship. Caesar was in the rifle brigade. Caesar died in 1913. Everyone was sad when Caesar died. Caesar died when a sniper shot him straight through the chest. You can still see his collar in the museum.
S.V

Caesar was a bull dog. He went to war and he was a red cross dog. He would find wounded men. He could find them with his sense of smell. Caesar trained in Egypt where all New Zealanders and Australians trained for war. Caesar was the mascot. At night time he was on no-mans land looking fo wounded men and he got shot. The Germans shot him.
J.V

This is Patricia Stroud who wrote the book and we were lucky enough to meet her and hear her read psrt of her story.
