Our Henna Hands

We have been looking at patterns that are used to create the wonderful designs used in Indian Henna patterns. We learnt that they are used usually on the hands and feet during celebrations and we think they look amazing! We have designed our own patterns... what do you think?

Homework this short week....

Our Middle School Poetry Final will be held on 15th November.
We are learning our poems and last week you showed your teacher a poem you would like to learn and recite. This week you need to carefully copy your chosen poem into your homework book. Don't forget to include the title and the author's name (if you know it).

The criteria for reaching the finals will be judged on:
  • Introduce the poem (title and author)
  • Give eye contact to the audience
  • Speak clearly
  • Speak slowly
  • Speak with expression
  • Stand with appropriate stance
  • Memorise the poem
Good luck and have fun :-)

It's back...

Believe it or not it's back..... Yes it's Fru-Ju Friday again! This must mean Summer is on its way.... and even though it doesn't feel too warm buying a PTA iceblock is the perfect way to start a weekend!
What an awesome PTA we have!

Reading Response...

We have just been reading a story called "When the King rides by" by Margaret Mahy. In it we see what happens and how much fuss is made when the King is out and about on his horse. We decided to draw a picture of ourselves riding by and the fuss that would be made over us....

Homework this week...

Welcome back to a very busy term 4. This week we are starting our Middle School Poetry Recital....
On Thursday the 15th November we will be having our Poetry Recital in the hall. Everyone will choose a poem to learn off by heart and recite it to the class and the two best from each room will go into the poetry finals.
This week we want you to choose a poem to learn and show it to your teacher to see if it is appropriate.... it must not be a nursery rhyme and it must be more that 8 lines.

When reciting your poem you will be judged on the following criteria:
introduce the poem (title and author)
give eye contact to the audience
speak clearly
speak slowly
speak with expression
stand with appropriate stance
memorise the poem

Have fun and let's see who can find the most interesting and funny poem!
